Unfortunately, despite the prior planning, the plans for a series of joint films fell victim to competing ideologies about how to showcase the allied campaign. In an effort to salvage the situation the American film maker George Stevens was brought in to make a single long documentary, highlighting the campaign from D-Day to VE-Day. The resulting film, The True Glory, won an Oscar for best documentary of 1945, but in fact was the result of a failure of Allied film propaganda policy."],"license_tesim":["http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["1998"],"source_tesim":["Journal of Contemporary History "],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/bc386p116?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["bc386p116"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["bc386p116"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"TRUE GLORY AND THE FAILURE OF ANGLOAMERICAN FILM PROPAGANDA IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR","human_readable_type_tesim":["Article"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["foranmkn@ucmail.uc.edu","kromefj@ucmail.uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["bc386k15p"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":1,"_version_":1697084608213942272,"timestamp":"2021-04-15T05:53:23.622Z","score":0.00049999997},{"system_create_dtsi":"2017-10-27T00:43:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2019-05-23T15:26:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Article"],"id":"bc386k14d","accessControl_ssim":["90cfcd8a-d904-44e8-9756-acc81e728017"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["bc386p13r"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["bc386p13r"],"depositor_ssim":["kromefj@ucmail.uc.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["kromefj@ucmail.uc.edu"],"title_tesim":["Creating \"Jewish History for Our Own Needs:\" The Evolution of Cecil Roth's Historical Vision,1925-1935"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2016-10-18T00:00:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2019-05-23T15:26:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"proxy_depositor_ssim":["foranmkn@ucmail.uc.edu"],"journal_title_tesim":["Modern Judaism"],"issn_tesim":["0276-1114"],"time_period_tesim":["20th Century"],"college_tesim":["Clermont College"],"department_tesim":["History "],"creator_tesim":["Krome, Frederic"],"subject_tesim":["Intercollegiate Menorah Society","Cecil Roth","American Jewry","Menorah Journal","Jewish History","Anglo-Jewry","Historiography"],"language_tesim":["English"],"description_tesim":["Remembered today as one of the great popularizers of Jewish history, in the inter-war year the Anglo-Jewish historian Cecil Roth was unable to secure an academic appointment until 1939.
