His flattened, floral designs were inspired by his love for the 14th- and 15th centuries and generated the Arts and Crafts Movement. Morris briefly worked as a painter and founding member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. In his only surviving oil painting, La Belle Isuelt, Morris depicts the medieval subject, Iseult, from Sir Thomas Mallory’s Le Morte D’Arthur, 1485. Through the theme of Arthurian legend, reference to medieval symbols, wall tapestries, and other motifs, Morris displays his admiration of Medieval themes.\r\n"],"license_tesim":["http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["2023-04-19"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-ff055336041c3f7d310ad69109eda4a887b16ec501f35afc0a547c4adb97ee72.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["tx31qk122"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["tx31qk122"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"LA BELLE ISEULT WILLIAM MORRIS PRERAPHAELITE PAINTING MEDIEVALISM DESIGN AND THE ARTS AND CRAFTS MOVEMENT","human_readable_type_tesim":["Student Work"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["crossmem@mail.uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["9593tw62h"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":1,"_version_":1764161436622258176,"timestamp":"2023-04-25T15:10:52.101Z","score":0.00049999997}],"facets":[{"name":"human_readable_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Student Work","hits":1,"label":"Student Work"}],"label":"Human Readable Type Sim"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Crossman, Emma","hits":1,"label":"Crossman, Emma"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[],"label":"Subject Sim"},{"name":"college_sim","items":[{"value":"Design, Architecture, Art and Planning","hits":1,"label":"Design, Architecture, Art and Planning"}],"label":"College Sim"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[{"value":"Art History","hits":1,"label":"Art History"}],"label":"Department Sim"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[],"label":"Language Sim"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[],"label":"Publisher Sim"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[{"value":"2023-04-19","hits":1,"label":"2023-04-19"}],"label":"Date Created Sim"},{"name":"member_of_collection_ids_ssim","items":[],"label":"Member Of Collection Ids Ssim"},{"name":"generic_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Work","hits":1,"label":"Work"}],"label":"Generic Type Sim"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":1,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
