The design is based on adaptive learning and four component instructional design. It includes a game like structure where students advance through varying levels of competency. It also uses achievements to represent course competencies that students must earn. After presenting the design, the instructor will discuss his successes and struggles in creating an online course that provides students flexibility and quick and frequent interaction with the instructor. Topics will include flexible due dates, use of achievements and badges, adaptive release rules in blackboard, alternative grading systems, and the use of technology for learning.\n\nPrezi: http://prezi.com/odkuil76cp5m/?utm_campaign=share\u0026utm_medium=copy\u0026rc=ex0share  "],"license_tesim":["http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["http://prezi.com/odkuil76cp5m/?utm_campaign=share\u0026utm_medium=copy\u0026rc=ex0share"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/bc387t70c?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["bc387t72x","bc387v22x","bc387t70c"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["3T: Teaching, Techniques \u0026 Technology Conference 2017"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["bc387g093"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["bc387t72x","bc387v22x","bc387t70c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"GAMIFYING AN ONLINE COURSE USING ACHIEVEMENTS AND LEVELS INSTEAD OF GRADES AND ASSIGNMENTS","human_readable_type_tesim":["Document"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["clermontlibrary@uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__ancestors_ssim":["bc387g093"],"nesting_collection__parent_ids_ssim":["bc387g093"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["bc387g093/bc387t69m"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":2,"_version_":1697115943753220096,"timestamp":"2021-04-15T14:11:27.521Z","score":0.00049999997}],"facets":[{"name":"human_readable_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Document","hits":1,"label":"Document"}],"label":"Human Readable Type Sim"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Mast, Eric","hits":1,"label":"Mast, Eric"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[],"label":"Subject Sim"},{"name":"college_sim","items":[{"value":"Other","hits":1,"label":"Other"}],"label":"College Sim"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[{"value":"Union Institute \u0026 University","hits":1,"label":"Union Institute \u0026 University"}],"label":"Department Sim"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[],"label":"Language Sim"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[],"label":"Publisher Sim"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created Sim"},{"name":"member_of_collection_ids_ssim","items":[{"value":"bc387g093","hits":1,"label":"bc387g093"}],"label":"Member Of Collection Ids Ssim"},{"name":"generic_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Work","hits":1,"label":"Work"}],"label":"Generic Type Sim"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":1,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
