The author has a Master of Arts and is the superintendent of the Bingham School. The work professes to innovation in response to the study of philology of the period; it discusses grammar as a science with laws. It professes an interest in plain English to foreign words. Its definitions are identical to those in Latin grammar. Credits the influence of Mulligan, Latham, Richardson, Goold Brown, and Butler. Its etymology and syntax are derived from German grammars of Latin and Greek. Rules and their explanations are followed by the copious parsing exercises. Excerpt includes preface, ToC, and chapters on orthography and nouns. \r\n "],"license_tesim":["http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["1868"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/ff365787n?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["ff365787n"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["The Lucille M. The author is credited as the Principal of Cortland Academy and author of three other books on grammar and the English language. Rather than begin with the usual brief section on orthography, the text's first part touches on words, phrases and sentences. Part two is etymology, part three is syntax, and part four is prosody. The author uses circular charts to aid students with learning grammar. Sentences are diagrammed to separate their elements. Examples, exercises and review questions are implemented throughout. There are many exercises in analysis. The Schultz Archive's copy only includes the first 67 pages of the text, which runs through all of part one and ends on the first page of part two.\r\n\r\n "],"license_tesim":["http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["1868"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/05741x50k?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["05741x50k"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["The Lucille M.
