Approximately, \r\n4.5 million adolescents have experienced an MDE in the past year. This study examined whether MDEs \r\namong adolescents differed based on specific parenting behaviors. A national sample of adolescents \r\nages 12 to 17 years (n = 11,572) completed the 2023 National Survey of Drug use and Health. Univariate \r\nand multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine whether lifetime and past \r\nyear MDE differed based on parenting behaviors. Results indicated that adolescents at highest risk for \r\nboth lifetime and past-year MDE were female, older (14-15 or 16-17-years-old), and white. Regarding \r\nparenting behaviors, adolescents at highest risk for lifetime and past-year MDE were those who had \r\nparents never/seldom check their homework, never/seldom help with their homework, never/seldom limit \r\nthe amount of TV, never/seldom tell them they did a good job, never/seldom tell them they were proud of \r\nthem, and who argued/fought with them ten or more times in the past year. These findings show the \r\nintricate relationship between adolescent MDE and parenting behaviors. Public health educators should \r\nencourage parents to engage in authoritative parenting behaviors (defined as high levels of parental \r\nsupport, warmth, and clear expectations) to help prevent MDE among adolescents. Findings should be \r\nused to assist program developers in incorporating parenting components in MDE prevention and \r\ntreatment efforts."],"license_tesim":["http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["2025-10"],"source_tesim":["Health Behavior Research"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/q524jq56s?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["q524jq56s"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["q524jq56s"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"MAJOR DEPRESSIVE EPISODE AMONG ADOLESCENTS A NATIONAL STUDY EXAMINING THE IMPACT OF PARENTING BEHAVIORS","human_readable_type_tesim":["Article"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["mahabumf@mail.uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["0v8382585"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":1,"_version_":1872814780801089536,"timestamp":"2026-08-06T22:29:15.835Z","score":0.00049999997},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-03-09T22:38:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-03-09T22:39:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Article"],"id":"pk02cc35d","accessControl_ssim":["f74b8b38-2b65-4ace-8358-997d912add45"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["np193b95h"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["np193b95h"],"depositor_ssim":["carrtrja@ucmail.uc.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["carrtrja@ucmail.uc.edu"],"title_tesim":["After Brongniart: Defining the Word “Ceramic” and the Persistence of “Burnt Stuff”"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-03-09T22:38:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-03-09T22:38:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"doi_tesim":["doi:10.7945/7wra-y312"],"geo_subject_tesim":["United States","Germany","England","France"],"time_period_tesim":["20th Century","19th Century"],"college_tesim":["Libraries"],"department_tesim":["CEAS Library (Engineering \u0026 App Sci)"],"creator_tesim":["Carr-Trebelhorn, Julia"],"publisher_tesim":["University of Cincinnati"],"subject_tesim":["Ceramics","Etymology","Pottery","Natural History","Porcelain","Ceramic Science"],"language_tesim":["German","English","French"],"description_tesim":["As I have previously shown, Alexandre Brongniart established a coherent science of ceramics. By the mid-nineteenth century, Brongniart had popularised the term \"la céramique\" as a widely-applicable name for the field of pottery and porcelain making, and other related arts. In the Twentieth Century, ceramic manufacturing became increasingly technical. The inclusive field of artisans and industrialists that Brongniart had once envisioned was fracturing. Voices called for the separation of pottery making from experimental, industrial ceramics and the meaning of the term “ceramics” was hotly debated. Numerous etymologies were traced, but, as the predominant language of science transferred from French to English, none of the twentieth-century authors recognized Brongniart’s key role in the invention of the term.
