We argue that the intensifying international interest in sexual violence, and an accompanying hyper-visual imagery, is implicated in the cauterisation of critical thought about sexual violence. We offer the more mobile and expansive concept of sexed violence to “unthink” dominant narratives that reproduce heteronormativity and white, Western hegemony. Through an analysis of the film Unwatchable, we consider why non-white raced bodies consistently materialise as less “comprehensible” as violatable than white bodies. We further suggest that a move to sexed violence can help to think more critically about both sexual violence and feminism."],"license_tesim":["http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17539153.2015.1094253"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-ff055336041c3f7d310ad69109eda4a887b16ec501f35afc0a547c4adb97ee72.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"UNTHINKING SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN A NEOLIBERAL ERA OF SPECTACULAR TERROR","human_readable_type_tesim":["Article"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["runyanas@ucmail.uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["wm117r225"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":1,"_version_":1697126901907193856,"timestamp":"2021-04-15T17:05:38.031Z","score":0.00049999997}],"facets":[{"name":"human_readable_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Article","hits":1,"label":"Article"}],"label":"Human Readable Type Sim"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Runyan, Anne Sisson","hits":1,"label":"Runyan, Anne Sisson"},{"value":"Zalewski, Marysia","hits":1,"label":"Zalewski, Marysia"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[],"label":"Subject Sim"},{"name":"college_sim","items":[{"value":"Arts and Sciences","hits":1,"label":"Arts and Sciences"}],"label":"College Sim"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[{"value":"Women's Studies","hits":1,"label":"Women's Studies"}],"label":"Department Sim"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[],"label":"Language Sim"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Critical Studies on Terrorism","hits":1,"label":"Critical Studies on Terrorism"}],"label":"Publisher Sim"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created Sim"},{"name":"member_of_collection_ids_ssim","items":[],"label":"Member Of Collection Ids Ssim"},{"name":"generic_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Work","hits":1,"label":"Work"}],"label":"Generic Type Sim"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":1,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
