The dissertation research consists of laboratory experiments, where hydraulic fractures were created by injecting dyed glycerin into colluvium contained in a triaxial pressure cell, and a field test, where hydraulic fractures were created by injecting guar gum gel at shallow depths in glacial drift. The laboratory tests showed that hydraulic fractures are readily created in clayey-silt colluvium. Furthermore, hydraulic fractures created in soil with positive pore pressure were filled with two fluids: one injected to create the fracture, and pore fluid that infiltrates into the fracture tip. The length of the infiltrated tip increases with increasing fracture length."],"license_tesim":["http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["1991"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/f4752g76q?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["f4752g76q"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["f4752g76q"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"HYDRAULIC FRACTURING OF SOIL","human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ucdp@uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["tt44pm93m"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":1,"_version_":1697112980937768960,"timestamp":"2021-04-15T13:24:21.960Z","score":0.00049999997},{"system_create_dtsi":"2018-03-26T15:24:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2018-03-27T16:05:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"th83kz37g","accessControl_ssim":["26afe70d-1bf8-428b-bd1b-bd7a192e6ae6"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["hh63sv958"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["hh63sv958"],"depositor_ssim":["ucdp@uc.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["ucdp@uc.edu"],"title_tesim":["Skeletal Growth And Chemistry Of The Sea Urchin Strongylocentrotus (Echinodermata:Echinoidea)."],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2018-03-26T15:24:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2018-03-26T15:24:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"degree_tesim":["Ph.D."],"college_tesim":["Other"],"department_tesim":["Other"],"etd_publisher_tesim":["University of Cincinnati"],"creator_tesim":["Scancar, Sonja Marguerite."],"publisher_tesim":["University of Cincinnati"],"subject_tesim":["Paleontology","Paleozoology","Biology, Zoology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"description_tesim":["Investigation of the coronal plates of the regular echinoid Strongy-locentrotus (Echinodermata: Echinoidea) shows that skeletal growth and chemistry may be interrelated."],"license_tesim":["http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["1990"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/hh63sv958?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["hh63sv958"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["hh63sv958"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"SKELETAL GROWTH AND CHEMISTRY OF THE SEA URCHIN STRONGYLOCENTROTUS ECHINODERMATAECHINOIDEA","human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ucdp@uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["th83kz37g"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":1,"_version_":1697100944937844736,"timestamp":"2021-04-15T10:13:03.536Z","score":0.00049999997},{"system_create_dtsi":"2018-03-26T15:24:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2018-03-27T16:05:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"m039k492n","accessControl_ssim":["dbe2db2a-f490-4f32-aead-ce8352e7e5b0"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["cj82k742g"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["cj82k742g"],"depositor_ssim":["ucdp@uc.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["ucdp@uc.edu"],"title_tesim":["An Integrated Study Of Echinoid Taphonomy: Predictions For The Fossil Record Of Four Echinoid Families."],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2018-03-26T15:24:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2018-03-26T15:24:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"degree_tesim":["Ph.D."],"advisor_tesim":["Chair: David L. Population censuses of these animals in tropical reef and near-reef environments demonstrate that the distribution of macro- and microscopic skeletal material does not reflect the distribution of the living fauna.
