Although overflow levels are steadily improving, there is still more to be done. Since 2002, the city has been attempting to renovate their old system to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Water Act. This has proved extremely costly and difficult to complete with over 3,000 miles of public sewers with the antiquated combined sewer overflow system. Green roofs have become a proven tool in reducing combined sewer overflows. This project aims to explain how a municipal sewer district can promote the reduction of stormwater runoff through native plant landscaping and green roof education. \r\nIn 2010, the Metropolitan Sewer District, the agency responsible for waste water treatment in the Greater Cincinnati area, installed a green roof on one of their Mill Creek Plant buildings, however, it has been neglected and is not reaching its full potential. Through research on green roof’s effects on combined sewer overflow, an improved green roof design, and educational signage this study aims to create an educational, visually pleasing, native focused, and functional green roof that still allows employees ease of access to necessary equipment. MSD can encourage an increase of green roofs throughout the city and this study creates a comprehensive plan to use green roofs as a promotional tool. \r\n"],"license_tesim":["http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/"],"date_created_tesim":["2024-04"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/c821gm50m?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-depositing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["41687j968","c821gm50m"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Annie Lewis Horticulture Capstone Project Spring 2024"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["jw827d136"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["41687j968","c821gm50m"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"sort_title_ssi":"BENEFITS OF GREEN ROOFS ON STORMWATER RUNOFF","human_readable_type_tesim":["Student Work"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["lewisaf@mail.uc.edu"],"nesting_collection__ancestors_ssim":["jw827d136"],"nesting_collection__parent_ids_ssim":["jw827d136"],"nesting_collection__pathnames_ssim":["jw827d136/bn9998418"],"nesting_collection__deepest_nested_depth_isi":2,"_version_":1796090252507480064,"timestamp":"2024-04-12T01:25:43.764Z","score":0.00049999997},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-04-12T00:37:54Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-12T00:38:38Z","has_model_ssim":["StudentWork"],"id":"1v53jz563","accessControl_ssim":["907e6fc3-d93b-4dcd-8410-d3153f0d7156"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["5425kc32t"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["5425kc32t"],"depositor_ssim":["tobetn@mail.uc.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["tobetn@mail.uc.edu"],"title_tesim":["How Can Accommodating Curiosity in Garden Design Foster Learning and Play For Children With Disabilities?"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-04-12T00:37:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-12T00:37:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"advisor_tesim":["Famulari, Stevie"],"degree_tesim":["Bachelor's of Science in Horticulture"],"college_tesim":["Design, Architecture, Art and Planning"],"department_tesim":["Horticulture"],"creator_tesim":["Tobe, Trinity"],"description_tesim":["\tThis research investigates the effects of gardening and interaction with plants in the development of children's intellectual and developmental skills, specifically inclusive of children with cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
