The use of controlled pore glass immobilized 8-hydroxyquinoline (CPG-8HOQ) for preconcentration of trace metals in aqueous media has been examined with in situ sampling as the objective. Quantities of the immobilized chelate were synthesized for the subsequent characterization which included determining capacities, batch kinetics, and kinetics in a flow system.
"Depolarization-dependent calcium influx is biphasic in synaptosomes (Nachshen and Blaustein, 1980, 1982). The fast and slow components of 45 Ca++ influx are proposed to occur through separate calcium channels. In this report the fast and slow components of depolarization-dependent 45Ca++ influx are resolved. The fast component is inactivated by predepolarization, inhibited by low concentrations of lanthanum and closely correlates with the rapid release of 3H-norepinephrine from synaptosomes. The properties of the fast component of influx suggest that it is mediated by calcium channels which inactivate during the first second of depolarization. The slow component is not sensitive of predepolarization and is partially dependent on the internal Na+ content of the synaptosomes. It is proposed that during depolarization a portion of the slow component of Ca++ influx in synaptosomes is mediated by a Na i/Cao exchange mechanism."
By the use of modern methods a study was made of some nitroso and nitro compounds of ruthenium. The production of ruthenium in high yield in uranium and plutonium fission has focused attention on the chemistry of ruthenium. The anionic nitroso and nitro complexes of ruthenium had not been studied for about sixty years.
Detailed mineralogic and chemical analyses of well cuttings of Tertiary sediments from two wells, Uruan-1 and Uda-1, on the eastern flank of the Niger delta, have been made in an attempt to investigate clay mineral burial diagenesis.

Talk Title: Closing Ohio’s health gaps: Moving towards equity
Reem Aly is the Vice President of Healthcare System and Innovation Policy at the Health Policy Institute of Ohio. Aly leads work on current and emerging health policy issues related to healthcare system and access, healthcare spending, social determinants of health and equity. She co-leads development of HPIO’s Health Value Dashboard and is currently leading HPIO’s contracted work to develop the state’s Maternal and Child Health and Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Assessments.
The principal, as a key leadership person in the staff development program, must know how to facilitate staff development in the school, particularly in the areas of instruction, shared decision making and management of change. Most principals are not prepared for, nor do they understand their role in staff development for all school personnel. Effective staff development requires comprehensive training for principals in order to prepare them for leadership roles in the schools (Wood, 1980).
