Description/Abstract:: 1830 printing. Author is credited as the author of A New and Improved System of Practical Arithmetic. Letter to elementary school teachers states: every elementary book should consist principally of spelling columns, as spelling is the foundation of reading, and that reading lessons should be adapted to children's understanding and progressive improvement. It leaves analysis to grammar texts. The Schultz Archive copy is a selection of roughly sixty pages from the 148 page text.
