Spam Detection over Encrypted Emails with Intel SGX Emails play a pivotal role in business and everyday communication. There are millions of email messages being sent each day that contain incredibly sensitive information. This sensitive data can be easily parsed by passive attackers on an email server. Leveraging Intel’s SGX we can mitigate this problem by using enclaves. These are private regions of memory that are protected from processes running at higher privilege levels. Decrypting emails using SGX on an Encrypted mail server makes it much more difficult for passive attackers to get any useful data. On top of that this solution takes into account that sender reputation filters are not very effective since it is quite easy for an email address to be compromised. Decrypting emails via Intel SGX improves the general security of Emails on servers where it is running.

The growing turnover rate in many industries and organizations makes them highly vulnerable to cyber-attacks that leverage Identity and Access Management vulnerabilities. Despite the obvious importance of IAM, this domain of IT is often overlooked and not fully covered in training courses. To cover this gap, we developed a free, comprehensive, and widely available training course that covers the topics of access revocation, data extraction, data breach prevention, and account management. After the completion of the course, students will have a full understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and will be prepared to take the initiative in building and managing a secure IT infrastructure.
The successful creation of the Access Management & Off-boarding Suite confirmed the lack of information we found when researching the Suite. This reaffirms the necessity of the course, provided through the Ohio Cyber Range Institute.
Accessible Wayfinding: McMapping Edition is route-finding web application, compliant with guidelines laid out in the Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design, that provides users with accessible routes within the Arts and Sciences building, formally known as McMicken Hall. The University of Cincinnati's recent accessibility initiative uncovered significant deficits in the campus’ overall accessibility. While this initiative has improved many elements of the university campus, it has yet to address needed improvements for those navigating inside UC’s buildings.
The McMapping wayfinding web application is designed to provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with mobility concerns the means to navigate through the Arts and Sciences building with peace of mind. By utilizing Phaser, the application will feature visual route guidance as an individual can first, select a starting location and a target destination within the establishment. The program provides the most accessible route to that spot. In addition to accessible route guidance, authenticated users can use saved routes and notification features to quickly identify previously used routes and to help other users navigate their way to success!

A 67-year-old female presented with an abnormal complete blood count (CBC) when arriving for an angiogram. An abnormal white blood cell (WBC) differential showed 17% blasts which led her physician to have a bone marrow biopsy performed. The bone marrow aspirate smear showed an increased number of blasts and the bone marrow core biopsy revealed 90% cellularity where normal precursors were replaced by blasts. Flow cytometry and chromosome analysis results were consistent with Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia (AMML). The patient was placed on FLAG chemotherapy until a goal of 0.9-1.0x10^9/L absolute neutrophil count is achieved, at which time a catheter will be placed to address her cardiac comorbidities. Cardiac disease and AML comorbidities are a commonly encountered issue in oncology patients. Due to this patient’s history of cardiac disease, treating her AML is more complicated in order to ensure that chemotherapy does not worsen her cardiac complications.
A strong implementation of zero-tolerance policy pushes students out of the classroom and into the world of criminal offense. Our curriculum will address these issues by equipping teachers and students alike to promote student voice in the classroom. Through bringing knowledge and creating awareness to race, class, gender, and sexuality, students will be enabled to furthermore act in a political manner for social justice.

Ball milling is used in industry to grind ores, minerals, ceramics, and recently has been implemented to research synthesis of organic compounds. One project is researching nickel catalysis in high speed ball milling for producing substituted cyclooctatetraene compounds. In the process of synthesizing the compounds, Ni, Cr, and Fe residues from the vials and nickel pellets used for the reaction will remain in the product. To analyze for the metals remaining in the product, Inductively Coupled Plasma paired with Mass Spectrometry was used. Initially used as an internal standard, gallium’s mass was found on the spectrometer. It is suspected to be a false positive caused by a FeO+ or FeN+. The product was analyzed using Agilent Technologies 7700 ICP-MS before and after a filtering process. This helped determine how effective the filtering process was removing metals and what concentration remained at the part per billion level (ppb) in the final product. A calibration curve was made with a blank, 1ppb, 5ppb, 10ppb, 25ppb, and 50ppb with Sc as the internal standard. Results showed that chromium is insignificant (<0.0ppb), and iron is approximately 1ppb in concentration. Before the filtration process, nickel is approximately 10ppb, after filtration, nickel’s concentration is insignificant (<0.0ppb).
Anxiety Knot’s primary purpose is to address rising levels of anxiety present in each new generation. Our digital journaling application facilitates users to address anxiety issues through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. This method includes helping users understand their negative thinking patterns, identify inconvenient situations more clearly and respond in an effective manner. This process involves the implementation of notable features such as mood input via icons and ratings, mood history of user and journal entries to assist user reflection on their current and past feelings. Prompted entries are introduced to ask users various questions to assist in reflecting on a current or past event during the entry. If users desire to input a quick entry, without question prompts, freeform journals provide the option to write quickly and freely enter thoughts and feelings into a single text area.

This team of web and game developers came together through a common desire to build a
product that was both an immersive experience and a tool accessible through a common web
browser. The team identified a problem that content creators are now facing due to the closure
of art galleries and because many experiences are now becoming virtualized, an opportunity in
the market was identified. Furthermore, there was personal motivation for some members of
the team to build the product that they themselves wanted to use for their own artistic
endeavors. This is how and why the team decided to build ArtSync, a virtual gallery
environment which will allow artists to showcase their work and share it across the internet.
ArtSync is made up of two main parts: a game built inside Unity and a website which has access
to a database. The Unity game contains the 3D realistic environment, the movement controls,
the rendering of artwork, and the different actions to view the art. The website takes care of
the other elements that a user experiences: authentication, file uploading, gallery
management, and permissions. Separately, both parts are interesting enough; but by
integrating these two parts together, the team created something unique.
To embed the game inside the website, the team used Unity's WebGL exporter which bundles
the project into something that a web browser can read. The product sends data back and forth
from the Unity export through the use of an open-source JavaScript library called react-unitywebgl
and custom javascript events. With these methods, the team fully integrated the Unity
game with the website and database into one cohesive product.
As a result, the team created a scene build inside Unity with all the controls functional, a basic
front-end built out with React, and the basic construction of an API which reads and writes from
a local SQLite database. With that, the team also created two use cases, technical diagrams and
documentation, and the creation of the front end.
The team first created a proof-of-concept product which proved that the idea was absolutely
possible and would not require a great amount of resources or extremely high technical
proficiency. By this point, the team has worked out all the major issues of the project and
moved forward into the enhancement stage where the team turned this app from a proof-ofconcept
into an alpha release.

The Astrum Network Scanner provides small business IT administrators the ability to keep their endpoints secure while saving time and money. According to CenturyLink in 2019, the average cost for network monitoring tools for a business of 100 devices could end up being a pricey $2,656 a year (CenturyLink)†. We have worked towards making an inexpensive and unique solution available. The scanner utilizes Linux-based scripting to scan endpoints and report on any common vulnerabilities as recommended by NIST. This allows IT administrators to automate a large portion of their security auditing. All this scanning capability is achieved through a one-time deployment of the Astrum solution. Astrum is inexpensive, open-source, and perfect for small businesses on a budget.
According to a 2015 survey conducted by the Pew Research Center and published in a September 2016 Internet and Technology report, 52% of adults are relatively hesitant to use digital tools because of lower levels of digital skills and trust in the online environment. As technology has evolved to become an essential part of our modern everyday lives, it is important for end users to understand how to both utilize it effectively, and keep themselves and their data safe. From email to online banking, technology has introduced new ways to organize and manage our lives. However, it has also introduced new sets of risks and challenges never before faced by users. This is where Athena Systems can help. Athena Systems is a multi-platform web application that both protects and assists users with catching up to the functionality of modern technology. It provides interactive lessons and opportunities such as registering and collaborating with a community of Athena Systems users. The security tool also provided by Athena Systems allows users to cross check websites and domains for legitimacy by running them against a blacklist database. Stay smart and stay safe with Athena Systems.

According to research done by IEEE (2016), “recording attendance is inefficient and takes up too much class time especially with larger groups of students,” and if attendance takes 5 minutes of a 45 minute period, that means that 10% of class time is lost taking attendance. Another research report completed by UC Berkley (2017) stated that time in class is when students are most productive. Important class time is wasted taking attendance, so being able to remove the amount of time taken by attendance would be beneficial to students. AutoAttend assisted with this issue by using a fingerprint scanner to sign students into the classroom. AutoAttend saved time taking attendance, which helped improve student performance.
Companies are generally hyper-focused on releasing software quickly to meet strict deadlines or to stay ahead of the competition. This generally results in implementing security once software is near release. In applying DevSecOps best practices early, companies can not only catch and fix security problems early but train their teams in what to avoid in the future. For those organizations that implement DevSecOps, it is found to be implemented during the beginning stages of their software development projects. Most of which is focused on identifying and displaying the source of security misconfigurations. AutoDSO will base their security best practice requirements based off the OWASP DevSecOps model. AutoDSO takes DevSecOps a step further by focusing on establishing security baseline requirements and allowing the users to select metrics specific to their DevSecOps policies and procedures. The application generates an automated DevSecOps policy document which can be used by security analyst and given to auditors to monitor a company’s DevSecOps processes. This allows companies an efficient way to document their security best practices and ensuring that security becomes a part of continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) in their organization.
