- Descripción/Resumen:
- College Dreaming is a mobile-friendly website that provides a more holistic and engaging approach for high school students and their families to search and ultimately apply to universities across the United States. As fewer students are enrolling in collegeand with the new reality that is COVID, colleges could lose up to 20% of students. With College Dreaming, we took all the traditional and non-traditional information that students and their families are interested in, such as costs and student life, to create a more accurate matching process for students and institutions. College Dreaming also has an engaging quiz feature for a fast and easy way to see potential universities and is integrated with a mapping service to explore a campus virtually. With these features, College Dreaming gives the ability to increase college applications to a wider range of institutions through its personalized and engaging approach, and after the COVID pandemic.

- Omniscient File Assistant is a file management platform created for easy monitoring of file systems of remote end-user workstations. With the number of employees working from home now eclipsing 66%, the likelihood of insider misuse is at an all-time high as employees may struggle to balance their new work life (Herhold). Through its monitoring and analysis features, OFA allows an organization to mitigate improper device usage and data storage before serious security incidents arise. Capabilities include regular metadata collection, centralized data storage and reporting, file matching via hashing and other criteria, file content scanning, server backups, and a robust searching tool. By utilizing Omniscient File Assistant, an organization can lessen their chances of having end-user issues by preventing long-term storage of personal files, storage of restricted materials, and unauthorized modifications. Omniscient File Assistant provides a one stop interface for administrators to log, flag, track and remove files at their discretion.

- The global smart mirror market is projected to reach $4,118.9 million by 2025, registering a CAGR(Compound Annual growth rate) of 11.5% from 2018 to 2025. We created a “smart” mirror that allows a person to efficiently do everything they need to do to prepare for the day while also view the news, weather, and other information. What makes a smart mirror “smart” is the ability to display any information you want on it. While providing a calendar, weather, date and time, or mapping software we are able to offer the user a convenient solution. The combination of hand motion, facial recognition, simple UI, calendar, and weather modules substantially increase the freedom and organization users have when interacting with this technology. This device allows users to experience a hands-free environment. Being able to take in all of this useful information without interrupting your normal routine is very liberating.

- Every year, freshmen across the US gain weight from the food courts on each college campus. Studies have found two thirds of freshmen gain weight during their first year while 70% of students gain weight and body fat before graduation. Our app UC FIT aims to reduce the overall weight gain and unhealthy lifestyle college students face every year. We are here to help college students navigate the weight room and the food courts. UC FIT will help them live out a healthy lifestyle by informing them of what food options are available, each day from the food courts. As well, UC FIT will provide a seamless way to track workouts and learn how to operate the gym equipment, using our guided workout animations of specific exercises. UC FIT will help college students and countless others from gaining excessive weight throughout their freshmen year.

- Accessible Wayfinding: McMapping Edition is route-finding web application, compliant with guidelines laid out in the Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design, that provides users with accessible routes within the Arts and Sciences building, formally known as McMicken Hall. The University of Cincinnati's recent accessibility initiative uncovered significant deficits in the campus’ overall accessibility. While this initiative has improved many elements of the university campus, it has yet to address needed improvements for those navigating inside UC’s buildings. The McMapping wayfinding web application is designed to provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with mobility concerns the means to navigate through the Arts and Sciences building with peace of mind. By utilizing Phaser, the application will feature visual route guidance as an individual can first, select a starting location and a target destination within the establishment. The program provides the most accessible route to that spot. In addition to accessible route guidance, authenticated users can use saved routes and notification features to quickly identify previously used routes and to help other users navigate their way to success!

- This paper explores the question of why it is important to apply culturally responsive teaching within the classroom, through creativity. Teaching diversity exposes students to a variety of cultural and social groups. This educational experience prepares students to become better citizens, within their communities. Through the creative process, students will examine topics which, both, encompass and promote diversity. Additionally, students will be able to construct their own independent, inclusive environment, through art making; this increase in diversity education relates not only to the race and ethnicity of our students, it also includes religion, economic status, gender identity, language background, and more. Adopting inclusion and awareness around multicultural education and taking a culturally responsive approach to teaching is a benefit to both students and instructors. Not only does creating a better multicultural awareness and inclusive environment help students with different backgrounds and needs succeed, but it encourages acceptance and helps prepare students to thrive in a diverse world. Keywords: cultural diversity, curriculum, teaching, art, social reconstructionism

- Descripción/Resumen:
- Classifier algorithms use the features (collectively known as Feature Vectors) of each item in a dataset to assess the classification to which that item belongs. In this classifier approach, each item represents one document containing the application essay combined with unstructured language describing relevant activities of a single applicant. For privacy, the full text of this document is not provided. Instead, each document is represented only by its features. The feature vector for this classifier is based on the term frequency for each of the identified terms. E.G. Doc_A contains 0 occurrences of any terms identified as family medicine vocabulary, and 10 occurrences of terms from the the non-family-medicine vocabulary.
