  • Alcyonacean may be Sinularia sp., which may be among the many soft corals that release toxins. Note also that the color pattern of the crinoid blends with the background of the host. This could possibly be a case of Batesian mimicry (if crinoid is non-toxic) or Mullerian mimicry if both host and associate are toxic or distasteful to predators.
