The author is credited as the author of MacLeod Reproduction Stories, MacLeod Composition Outlines, Lessons on Common Minerals, etc. The book is meant for students and teachers and aims to give information about the familiar objects around us. Examples of objects covered by chapter are: cotton, flax, tea, bread grains, pepper, bricks, and tobacco. The margins contain questions to answer from the information given in the text.
